“Continuous creation is to be thought of not only as a series of successive acts of creation, but also as the eternal presence of the one creative act.”
Synchronicity and a Sofa
My mother and I sat on a friend’s sofa, said how much we’d like one just the same, two days later we found the exact same style sofa on craigslist only one town over, in perfect condition and really cheap.
Magic at the Dump
Ready to make applesauce. Can’t find the food mill anywhere. Three days later find a nicer one at the dump just sitting there waiting to be taken home.
The Invisible Web of Connection
Correspond by email with a woman I briefly met to see if she can help me publicize a workshop I’m teaching. Later in the day go to the library looking for books on an unrelated topic. The librarian pulls up a book on amazon and suggests it. The author is the woman I’d spoken with early that day. I didn’t even know she was a writer. The book won’t be published until May. When I email the woman back and tell her of the coincidence she sends me a PDF version of the unpublished books.
“The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it Intuition or what you will, the solution comes to you and you don’t know how or why.”
~ Albert Einstein
These coincidences happen all the time.
Be open to the unknown.
Don’t wait for it or stress about it.
Don’t dismiss it.
What about you? Are you in an ocean of synchronicity? Did you see the big beautiful lady moon this weekend?

Social Neuroscientists call those coincidences Implicit Exogenous Actions, a product of all those non-verbal connections that make up the vast web of mystery and complexity in the Reticular Activating System on the right side of the brain housing The Unthought Known, Jasmine!
Aren’t you glad you asked!
I love synchronicity magic! It is made more profound and persistent by listening for it, like you say here, making room for it. Which is also one of the 647 reasons I love you. And your blog. xo
And what IS the Unthought Known? Not sure it is found (housed) in the brain….?
Synchronocity experience: I am nosing around the dump on Dump Day (a big town event) and before I leave my friend who will be working there all day asks if there is anything I’m looking for, need, want, etc. At first i say no but then half joking say, oh, yeah, a kayak, preferably a two seater. I drive away and the next truck in is carrying a kayak, two seats, no leaks! My friend snatches it up for me, cleans it, buys new oars and life jackets and leaves it on my front lawn , with a beer in each cup holder, to surprise when i return from a weekend away. And who says life is not miraculous? Like the quotes in this entry. Thanks, Jasmine.
Jasmine,
This is wonderful! You’ve shared some fabulous examples of synchronicity with us.
Life is truly miraculous – I so agree with you!
I love Einstein’s quote too!
Oh what lovely comments! I’ve been away from my computer since Sunday morning. Hiding out under the covers at a friends witnessing the impassable mud and then slick icing of snow on top.
Mark, Yes! The unthought known…I love this. And Marlene…the wonders of the dump. One year we were getting ready for a party and bringing a trunk load of junk to the dump where we found a big bag of glorious flouncy party dresses which my sisters and girlfriends brought home and adorned ourselves in!

I love the synchronicity that happens in life…though I might name it “karma” being Buddhist
xx
Yes Kate, there are many names for it and they all point toward the same underlying mystery.
Love those synchronous moments. The key (for me) is noticing that they are always happening. I just don’t always notice!
This is the key for me as well. Trusting that what is unfolding is right even if it isn’t what the little me thinks I want!
