If you’re not happy with your relationship to money, doing nothing will not make it better. It’s time to get cuddly with the dollars & cents – no longing glances, get intimate. –Tara Gentile
It is official, I’m breaking up with my bad inner boyfriend with the last name, Money-Talk-Is-To-Be-Avoided-At-All-Turns and immediately walking down the inner aisle with the man of my dreams: Mr. Money-Is-Love.
And the first thing I’m going to do in the name of Money-Is-Love is sell you something that I love: The Art of Earning by Tara Gentile is a guide to help all of us not only get straight with our relationship to money, but also get creative.
Getting right with money, understanding how it does and does not relate to you, means that you can get right with your contribution to the world. Getting right with money means you can better practice your art.
You can create more. Offer more. Give more. —Tara Gentile
And when you buy The Art of Earning from this site, I will make money on the sale. All in one fell swoop I’ll be sharing something I love and think is useful and making money at the same time. You will be receiving something of value and feeding me supper. We will be giving and receiving energy in both directions. We will be taking care of each other and taking care of ourselves.
What was I worried about? There is no shame in this? Money is love.
If we want it to be… Of course money as energy is used toward many ends, many of them not so lovely. When we look out at corporate inhuman land and see how money is being sucked away from those who need it most or never given to them in the first place for their labor, our home—our earth—is damaged and harmed in the name of making money, and money is spent to show off fragile egos in expensive gowns and fancy cars, it is easy to get the idea that money is sketchy or dangerous or greedy.
But money isn’t any of these things, money is just money. And I for one am going to take in and let go money with love, money as love. I’m going to take care of myself this much. I’m going to meet my money fears and make a living so I can share my art and heart, so I can support my community and support myself.
The more of us take on this task of reinventing and healing our relationship with money to be one of generosity, abundance, value, respect for ourselves and others, the more money-energy becomes love-energy.
You genuinely are a purveyor of profound meaning. Your work is not only useful but transformative. If you haven’t discovered that yet, given time, energy, and the deep desire for greatness, you will. You will see how others are changed because they own a piece of your art or interact with your ideas.
Own that power. Stand up and be counted. And understand that transformation is valuable.
The Art of Earning is not for the entrepenuer only (although it might give you the confidence to become one). It is for anyone who wants to relate more consciously, caringly, and courageously to the energy of money.
When Kelly Diels said this to me (and to the rest of her community), I knew I wanted The Art of Earning in my hands:

If you were hoping this post was going to be about masturbation since I said in my last post (the one titled: This Post is About Masturbation and Money) it would be, and you are now feeling disappointed, simply read the post again and read the word masturbation everywhere the word money appears.
I just tried it.
Hilarious and true.
